Every computer consists of thousands of files, out of which, several play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of the computer. DLL or Dynamic Link Library Files are one such category of files that are an integral part of every Windows computer and most of its applications. However, most computer users are not aware of the existence of DLL files as they tend to work silently in the background. Usually, the first encounter of computer users with DLL files happens when there is a problem with one or more DLL files and their name appears in the error message displayed on the screen.

What makes these errors more confusing is that there are thousands of different DLL files on every computer and most of them have strange names. However, most of these DLL errors can be easily resolved within a few minutes if you follow the guidelines provided in this article.

Guideline # 1: Check the Internet for A Solution: The Internet is full of information on how to deal with various computer problems, including errors related to DLL files, such as the mfc80.dll and framedyn.dll. This is why the best approach to resolving a DLL error is to write down the displayed error message and search for a solution on the Internet. Most of the time, you will be directed to the right solution, which you can implement to resolve your error message.

Guideline # 2: Be careful while installing new software and device drivers: If DLL-related issues occur soon after you have installed a new software or driver, this new software may be the culprit. For example, installing the software for Netgear WG111 USB wireless network card may overwrite the msgina.dll file with the rtlgina2.dll file and cause problems with the default Windows XP Welcome screen. The best way to resolve such errors is to either restore the old file or uninstall the new software and then perform System Restore.

Guideline # 3: Check your PC for malware infections: If you are bombarded with too many DLL errors at the same time, it is quite possible that your computer is infected with some type of malware. If this is the case, you must immediately update your virus and spyware protection tools and perform a full system scan to detect and remove all malware. Run the scan twice to ensure no infection is left behind.

Guideline # 4: Ensure that all hardware on your PC is working fine: If the errors started appearing soon after you added a new hardware device or component, there might be some problem with this component. However, if this is not the case, it is best to use a good PC diagnostics tool to run tests on your existing hardware to see if any of them has developed a problem. If an issue is detected with a particular hardware, you may have to get it checked by an expert for solution.

Guideline # 5: Ensure that the Windows registry is healthly and error free: The fact that all DLL files need to be registered in the registry makes it important for you to ensure that the registry of your computer is healthy and free of errors. The best and most recommended way to fix registry problems is by using a reliable registry tool
. Using this tool, you can easily scan, clean and repair registry problems in just a few mouse clicks.

In the age of technology there are many threats existing that endanger both a person’s computer and an individual’s identity. The internet is promoted as the great global market where individuals can satisfy their consumer’s needs and allows their businesses the opportunity to compete on a global scale. There are individuals corrupting the internet experience by invading the private lives of others and attempting to destroy the technology of the unsuspecting individual, though it is also true that there are many advantages related to the advancement of technology.

It is a mistake to believe that you are safe to explore the internet without some form of protective software. Without the proper preventative measures it is very difficult to get rid of malware. Opening negative internet pages like pornographic sites or opening unrecognized e-mails are what most people relate computer viruses to, there are a great number of other ways to contract malware. Internet villains enjoy creating viruses that an unsuspecting person can get from what is interpreted as a safe location making it difficult to get rid of.

To get rid of malware an individual must understand what malware represents. Intended to invade your computer and software through the internet, by definition malware is malicious software. Once malware enters your computer it becomes very difficult to get rid of malware. The infection imbeds itself into various programs and files, beginning to corrupt data and destroy software by using various forms such as a Trojan horse or spyware. It is difficult to protect your computer from the online experience without proper computer defense.

So the question becomes how do I get rid of malware? Professional help may be required if your computer has already been corrupted and you have no form of antivirus. Making it difficult to get rid of when you cannot reach your required destination, certain malware such as hijacker makes it extremely difficult to upload programs or go online because the virus is designed to route your computer to specific destinations.

One of the most important steps in getting a new computer or starting the online experience is installing an effective antivirus program and installing firewalls. How do I get rid of malware, through this effective combination to identify and trap malware to be contained and eliminated, which will get rid of the harmful infection. In addition, be aware of the sites that you visit and read any disclaimers they require you to read carefully. Often a site permits itself to install programs on to your computer, track your internet activity and document and sell your personal information through the disclaimers so many individuals blindly authorize.

When the threat of identity loss becomes apparent the question is changed from how do I get rid of malware to how to get rid of invasive viruses. These regularly are related to cookies which are created to record your online activity and document personal information you enter online such as user names and passwords.

We all spend lots of time using and enjoying our computers…and we use our keyboards as our main means of communicating with them. Did you know that there are lots of keyboard shortcuts to help us get things done? There are general Microsoft shortcuts, Office shortcuts, Internet Explorer shortcuts, and Vista even has programmable shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts save time because it’s much faster to touch two or three keys simultaneously than clicking on a menu function and then selecting one of the menu choices.

The shortcuts I use most are the following:

Windows Logo Key (the key on the same keyboard row as the space bar, usually to the left of the space bar) + L locks your computer
(handy if you want to leave the PC and don’t want anyone to use it. All aspects of your session remain exactly as you left them. You’ll need to use another shortcut, Ctrl+Alt+Del to unlock it.

In Word or Open Office Writer, I like to use the Ctrl+C to copy text, Ctrl+X to cut text, Ctrl+V to paste text, Ctrl+B to bold text, Ctrl+A to select all text or items in the current window, Ctrl+U to underline text, Ctrl+I to make text italics, Ctrl+Z will undo the last command and there are many more.

Check out this link for all the shortcut lists http://www.microsoft.com/enable/products/keyboard.aspx

There are probably many more shortcuts you’ll find interesting at this site. Print them off for use as a quick tips sheet, or bookmark the page for future reference. However, you’ll find that you’ll quickly remember the shortcuts you use most and will use the references less and less.
